UCare's Salute to Excellence Event Honors Crown Clinics

At its annual provider recognition event of May 3, UCare recognized outstanding performances by Minnesota clinics and care systems that participated in its Pay for Performance (P4P) Program.  Among the providers honored at UCare's Salute to Excellence event were Dr. Chike Onyekaba and Dr. Joyce Onyekaba of CMSSC.  This medical center, with clinics in Minneapolis and Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, and a nonprofit division as well, was recognized for Medicaid Overall Performance Quality of Care.

How Crown Medical Support Services Clinic is Governed

Our Centers are governed by a five-member board of directors. The board is responsible for the  development of operational policy and direction of the organization. The board delegates responsibility for day-to-day operations to the Executive Director and staff. The board is diverse and is comprised of four officers, which include the chair, vice-chair, secretary and the treasurer.

The Board of Directors meets once every sixty days and holds its meeting at such times and places as a majority of the directors in office determine. All board members serve two-year terms, and are eligible for re-election.

Crown Medical Center Pic North ClinicOur organization is well managed by professionals and our payroll and accounting services are provided by an outside accounting firm, Ubani Associates PPLC.  Since our inception we have offered medical and counseling services to individuals and families, the majority of which are people of color, and African immigrants in Minnesota.

Crown Medical Center PicsCMSSC provides medical and preventative healthcare, and health education outreach services to residents of the Twin Cities and metropolis, including those who are underinsured and/or uninsured.

We offer urgent and primary care, along with inhouse laboratory/diagnostic services for a wide variety of acute, chronic, and infectious diseases.

Department of Homeland Security

We are one of twenty-four centers in the State of Minnesota certified by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to screen recent immigrants for contagious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B, syphilis and tuberculosis. The certification also allows us to offer educational counseling services on preventive health issues to the immigrants and to reach a large gamut of people worldwide. We do extensive educational outreach (awareness) which is the key to containing the morbidity and mortality associated with most contagious diseases.

Crown Medical Support Services Client Services

We serve children, teens, and adults in our family clinics. In the State of Minnesota we rank at the top bracket of culturally specific centers that cater to the health needs of people of color, especially African immigrants.

We provide our patients with complete well checkup examinations, and immunizations, including flu shots. We also diagnose and treat patients with illnesses and diseases.

We also provide diagnoses and treatment of STDs, including free HIV testing and AIDS care.

We offer convenient primary and urgent care clinits; and employer-mandated physical exams for Work Physicals. In addition, we provide lead screening for children; family healthcare services; sports medicine; and work-related injuries.

Thorough physical examinations and adult care for chronic illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, asthma, high cholesterol, elder care, medication management, family planning, drug screening, and more. We havce in-house laboratory and x-ray facility.

Crown Medical Support Services Clinic (CMSSC) exists to reduce cultural, and linguistic barriers that lead to health disparities, and to offer high quality, comprehensive medical care, and health education to all in need, regardless of income or insurance, with the goal of improving the health and well-being of Minnesota residents.

Dr. Joyce OnyekabaCrown Medical Support Services Clinic (CMSSC) is a 501(c)(3) organization created as a vehicle to provide adequate medical services to those who are without sufficient resources to pay for them via insurance or otherwise.

We raise funds through donations and contributions from the corporate sector as well as from individuals.  These funds support projects in the United States and overseas.
